Wait a minute?!! You would trade the Accumark/Mark V that you just refinished and installed that cool looking pad on for a Classicmark II in a .300Wby????

I don't have a Montefeltro but, if I did get one, it would be in a 20 gauge. My Beretta 303 12 gauge is my go-to autoloader unless it's waterfowl I'm after, then the Mag 10 makes an appearance!

I would sell my Accu/Deluxe in a second for the Classic.

Your Monte is a 12ga. ????? A 48AL deluxe would indeed be very nice.

I'm definitely still torn. In fact, I was prepared to go to Cabelas and see what kind of shotgun can tempt me away from a collector Weatherby Classicmark II, but I only like to take a gun with me if I know exactly what I want to trade it for. I didn't know, so I didn't go. If I traded for a rifle it would certainly be something that would require additional funds....a Mauser M03 in .300 Wby perhaps. I'm more open to shotguns. Heck I would even consider a couple of nice pumps or a Franchi 48AL Deluxe....maybe a Montelfeltro.

I'm always open to other suggestions or offers. You always seem to come up with good ideas! Very Happy

Hey Jerry,

So whats the verdict on the Classic ??? They have always been a favorite of mine. If you are still torn, maybe we will need to deal.

Sorry to hear that Jerry...I know you really like the Classics...But, if it doesn't work, it doesn't work.....No point in hanging onto it if it's just gonna sit around as decoration. I think you should replace it with a .378 Euro cheers

Classicmark II

Post by JB on Mon Apr 21, 2008 9:01 pm

As much as it pains me to come to this realization, I may have to put the Classicmark II up for sale. It has nothing to do with the quality of the rifle because it's one of my favorite all-time Weatherby configurations. The wood on it is very nice and I love the shadowline cheekpiece. Even by lengthening the stock, it just does not feel right to me. The pistol grip is much too shallow and I always find myself with my little finger and the ring finger with nothing to grab onto, so I have to wrap them underneath the pistol grip. My hands are just a little too big for the design. I just put new Warne bases and rings on it so the gun will stay just as it is...scope and all. I may take it to Cabelas this weekend and get a price or may consider a trade on a shotgun.
